TXSAM Fall Membership Meeting

Rachel Holliman earned her Master of Science in Social Work from the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin in 2016. She began her career at Dell Seton Medical Center as a medical social worker and served on the Buprenorphine Team (B-Team), a multidisciplinary group focused on assessing patients with opioid use disorder and connecting them to medication-assisted treatment and recovery resources. In 2022, the B-Team received the Society of Hospital Medicine Excellence in Teamwork Award.

Holliman later advanced to lead social worker, supporting discharge planning for medically and socially complex patients in collaboration with case management teams and physicians. She now serves patients at Dell Medical School and UT Health Austin, concentrating on individuals with alcohol and other substance use disorders—populations that are highly vulnerable and often underserved.
